Rapid Population Growth in the City of Phoenix and the West Valley’s Buckeye – Future Home of Douglas Ranch
The most recent population report from the U.S. Census Bureau, released earlier in May 2019, shows that large population shifts to Southern and Western states is not slowing. To help support that growth, robust economic activity will revolve around building out infrastructure, homes and apartments, schools, hospitals, new services and bringing companies to the area looking for qualified employees to fill new positions. The Greater Phoenix metroplex, and West Valley cities such as Buckeye, are right in the heart of this population shift.
The U.S. Census Bureau’s report covers a one-year reporting cycle between 2017 and 2018. The city of Phoenix had the largest one-year gain in population among all U.S. cities, with population rising over 25,000 to 1.67 million. Phoenix is now the 5th largest city in the U.S., behind only New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston.
The report also estimated that Buckeye, AZ had the largest year-over-year percentage gain among all U.S. cities with a population greater than 50,000. Buckeye showed an 8.5% increase in population to 74,370.
JDM Partners LLC, and its development partner, El Dorado Holdings, have envisioned a visionary model of a 21st century city to be built in Buckeye. Over the next 25 years, Douglas Ranch will become home to 300,000 residents.
